Driver makes positive progress after injury.

VW Motorsports driver, Shivesh Bissoon takes the wheels after a year-long injury.

Shivesh Bissoon (30) has made positive strides toward regaining his pre-injury racing form after a year-long road to recovery.
He participated in one of the Kyalami 9-hour support races over the weekend.

Bissoon emerged from the 2016 VW Motorsports driver search and was on his way to a stellar career but broke his collarbone while training last season. Participating in the support race has been a sign of great progress for him.

“It was a great experience. We made a good start and made a couple of paces. I think we were running eighth until we crashed out which is a bit frustrating,” he said.
“But all in all, it has been a huge step forward for me as I haven’t been inside a car in a year. I’m trying to recover and deal with missing out on races. I have been getting up to speed and pacing myself throughout the weekend.”

Bissoon, a biokineticist, hopes to build on this momentum.
“It won’t be easy, but I will give my all to be the best and hopefully we can do better in the next race.”

With experience and time on his side, he’s working towards competing in the biggest races, with the best drivers in the world.
