Stepping Stones returns to Fourways Riding Centre

TIMSRAND – Local riding centre to host popular series again.

The Stepping Stones Super League, that was so successful before the nationwide lockdown, will once again return to the arena.

Fourways Riding Centre will host the second leg of this year’s series on 15 August. Safety protocols will be in place to keep everyone safe in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The multi-discipline series was a hit last year but saw only one leg in February this year, before the lockdown halted horse riding. The series includes showjumping, dressage, equitation, showing and eventing. It caters to a wide range of levels, starting from level zero (lead rein) and goes up to level five (1m jumps). The focus of the ungraded shows is on development, of both riders and their horses.

Centre owner, Marion Clough said she looked forward to hosting the event, although it will be very different to previous shows.”We are not allowed catering and there can only be a maximum of 50 riders plus one groom for each rider, at the venue at a time,” she said.

Underage riders will also be allowed one parent, otherwise no spectators are allowed.”There will also be no prize-giving or rosettes awarded, but we can record the results and send them to everyone afterwards. We need to be safe as that is most important.”

All riders have to complete a Covid-19 questionnaire and email it to the centre within 48 hours of the event, otherwise they will not be permitted to enter.Other safety protocols include social distancing, sanitising of equipment and hands, only having pre-ordered meals and the wearing of face masks when not riding.
