Kyalami stable is excited to have students back in the saddle

KYALAMI – The year has implemented important safety protocols to help everyone stay safe while riding at its venue.

Lessons are running again at Riba Stables and instructors and students are happy to be back.

The Kyalami yard has implemented important safety protocols to help everyone stay safe while riding at its venue. These protocols include taking temperatures and recording the information of everyone who enters its premises, placing several sanitising stations around the yard, and keeping social distances.

Face masks are also required to be worn by those on-site.”We are taking every precaution and have told people if they feel uncomfortable then they should stay at home rather,” said stables owner, Barbie Gertenbach.

“Still, most parents have brought their children back. I think they knew I kept all staff on-site during the lockdown, as I did all the shopping for them, so there has been no contact.”

She added that riders have expressed great joy in returning to the saddle. “I think people were desperate to get out of their homes and go outdoors. Riding is very therapeutic as well.”

Furthermore, Gertenbach believes it is one of the safest sports one can engage in, with individual classes seeing just one rider and one instructor (and the horse) sharing a whole arena between them. With plenty of space to work with, social distancing is easy and germs cannot be spread between people.
