A new football club based at Dainfern Golf Estate has emerged due to popular demand, with practices starting on 20 January.
Previously, the golf estate played host to Dainfern Lions Football Club. With new management being introduced, Adam Albyn started the Dainfern United Football Club (DUFC) which is registered with Rand Central League Football Association.

Children between the ages of five and seven were excited to start practising. The little ones came with their practise kit that looked a few sizes too big for them, wearing shirts of their favourite football clubs.
Their moms escorted them to the field while helping with their bags and water bottles. Some parents sat around the field on golf carts and chairs.

Albyn said the reason for bringing DUFC to the golf estate was due to the massive demand. “We see huge potential in the area. It’s a good feeding ground, and the area has got good facilities,” he said.
With the club’s coaches having represented at district level, playing and coaching, SuperSport United Soccer Schools (SSUSS) has also been contracted as external consultants to help the club with coaching expertise. Specific ideologies used by SSUSS will be implemented to ensure the modern and progressive football philosophy that has been outlined for DUFC is continued. Albyn said the primary focus was the development of players.

“The results will sort themselves out… Another hope we have is to have a couple of girls’ teams as well. We encourage any and all girls who are keen to play football to come and join us. Any from all age groups.”
The club coaches players from age five upwards with the older players having their practice sessions later in the evening.

“The focus for the older players is to get a chance to play football in a competitive environment.”
The first week of matches for the club will start in the first week of April.
