Run around Riversands
KNOPJESLAAGTE – Community members enjoy the weekly Riversands myrun in a peaceful, scenic setting.
A tranquil setting welcomes runners to the Riversands myrun every Sunday morning.
Birds chirp, geese and ducks splash in the dam and good vibes reign at the Riversands Farm Village where community members meet to run scenic 2.5km and 5km routes.
“We brought myrun to Riversands Farm about a year and a half ago. We absolutely love this venue,” said Leigh Buckle, managing director of the free event.
“The route is a trail. It’s quite rocky. There are hills, there are quite a few flats as well and sand roads through forests. It is very pretty.”

Buckle said the routes were not that technically challenging.
“The 2.5km is fairly easy where we cater for the less fit and children that love to run. The 5km is a bit more of a challenge but very enjoyable.”
Runners of all ages take on both routes and are often joined by their four-legged friends.
The farm market is open by the time runners finish and many sit down to a light meal or coffee to chat. “People arrive before the run and have coffee. After the run the vibe is even better.”
The atmosphere is also helped by myrun volunteers who encourage runners from start to finish.
To run a myrun, one must register an account on www.myrun.org.za and then purchase a timing band for R60.
This is a once-off fee and every run is free afterwards. The runner then collects the band and a unique code from the location of the run, and can then use that band to run at any myrun venue.
Members of Discovery Vitality also earn points at each run.
