Ride like the wind

TIMSRAND – Local showjumpers get a taste of an international showjumping course at Fourways Riding Centre.

The much-anticipated Jumping World Challenge came to Fourways Riding Centre on 20 and 21 July.

The 41st International Federation for Equestrian Sports series travels around the world with a course designed by Rakshan Radpour of Iran.

The second leg of the series was well-received in Timsrand and gave local riders an opportunity to compete in an international setting.

Organisers said the aim of the series was to develop equestrian sports in countries and regions where international competitions were rare.

“[The challenge] is an international series giving the more inexperienced riders the opportunity to be part of an international event,” said Surei Botha of Fourways Riding Centre.

“Competitors from all around the world take part in this series on their home ground… and all competitors have the opportunity to jump the same courses globally.”

The winner of the gold category in the series qualifies to travel to the finals of the series.

In February, Fourways Riding Centre installed a new

R500 000 CLOPF Fibre surface arena, which makes it a popular location for events of this type.
