Fight night has all the action

South Africa’s best kickboxers took each other on at another thrilling Supreme Fight League (SFL) event on 29 June.

The sixth edition of SFL attracted a full house of fans at The Barnyard Theatre Rivonia, and there were plenty fights throughout the evening to keep them entertained.

The night opened with the first stage of an eight-man pro elimination tournament in the welterweight division. These four fights were action-packed and close.

Women kickboxers, Christine ‘The Edge’ Wolmarans, who is a former mixed martial arts champion, and multiple Kickboxing SA champion Andrea Beneke then took to the ring for another smashing bout, which Beneke won via unanimous decision.

Another pro fight followed this women’s match-up (fight six) while fight seven was cancelled, before the semi-finals of the pro-elimination tournament were held.

Fights 10 and 11 held more pro fights before the 12th fight of the night, and the most anticipated of the evening, was held.

This was between the winner of the Elimination Tournament at SFL5, Keagan Rowe and Rohan ‘The Raven’ Erasmus. Rohan recently dominated his opponent at SFL4, putting on an impressive display of power and aggression.

Keagan convincingly proved himself at SFL5’s Super-Am Tournament, tirelessly improving with each fight and winning the tournament title with a devastating back kick that was just too much for his opponent.

Rowe again showed he was the best fighter on the night with a unanimous decision win over Erasmus in this light middleweight title fight.

The 13th and final fight of the evening was the final of the pro-elimination tournament, where Emile ‘Diaz’ Brits defeated Tshepo ‘Hitman’ Majuba via split decision.
