Fourways Martial Arts bags 25 medals

FOURWAYS – Fourways Martial Arts Academy put in a big performance at the Arnold Classic Africa games, achieving 25 medals in different age categories.


The 4th edition of the Arnold Classic Africa games recently took place from 16–19 May.

The multisport event was held at four different venues this year: Sandton Convention Centre, Crawford College Sandton, Country Club Johannesburg and Northcliff Bowl.

Residents of Fourways will be proud to learn that their suburb was well-represented at the Sandton Convention venue, where the Fourways Martial Arts Academy scooped up 25 medals. After entering 19 athletes in different age groups, the academy achieved 12 gold, ficesilver and eight bronze medals.

Speaking after the tournament, coach and instructor of the academy Sensei Biagioni said, “I’m happy we took part in this competition – it’s one of the biggest sporting events. I’m proud of our athletes.

“They really did well and we deserve all those medals, and I’m hoping we can only improve from this and get better, to keep performing at the highest level.”
