Kagiso Rabada again at the top of the ICC Test rankings

JOBURG – Proteas fast bowler proves he is the best in the world.

Proteas paceman Kagiso Rabada (22) has once again climbed to the top of the International Cricket Council Test bowling rankings.

This Fourways resident and former St Stithians College cricketer, and current bizhub Highveld Lions player, claimed five wickets for just 75 runs in two innings in the opening Test match against India.

The Proteas won the match by 72 runs on 8 January, after batsmen of both teams struggled to score runs for three days on a tricky pitch.

He moved five points up the rankings while the previous leader, James Anderson of England, dropped five points after another fourth Test defeat to Australia in The Ashes series.

Rabada recently played for the Lions in the Ram Slam T20 in which they finished a disappointing fifth.

“I feel we [South Africa] have the best batsmen in the world,” Rabada said during the T20 tournament.

“I think Quinton [de Kock] is the best opening batter in the world. And you’ve got someone like AB [de Villiers] who has done it all. He’s been the best for years.”

The Proteas will play two more Test matches against India, the first starting on 13 January in Centurion, and the second at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium, Illovo on 24 January.
