Bryneven Primary School diver wins at St Stithians

Lakin Alberts (11) of Bryneven Primary School in Bryanston scooped first-place in her age group in the diving finals held at St Stithians College on 26 October.

The five schools which competed in the competition were Bryneven Primary School, Bryndale Primary School, Brescia House, St Stithians College and Pretoria Primary School.

Lakin took first place with an overall winning score of 136 and scored a fantastic 8, 7-and-half, 7-and-a-half on a 2.2 difficulty.

She has been diving for five years and is trained by the well-known Italian coach Danilo Congrossi. Lakin has excelled in her diving career both at provincial and national level, and has her eye set on competing in the Olympics one day.

She trains five to seven days a week and believes in commitment, hard work and good sportsmanship.
