Chad le Clos comes to Fourways

FOURWAYS – Olympic swimmer Chad le Clos delighted his Fourways fans when he took part in a meet and greet at Fourways Crossing.

Rio Olympics silver medallist swimmer Chad le Clos was in Fourways on 12 November when he spent a few hours interacting with local fans.
Le Clos was hosted by the Fourways Crossing branch of Sportsman’s Warehouse for a meet and greet, where he signed his autograph and posed for photos with his fans.

“The number of people in line this morning waiting to meet him was amazing,” said Audrey Nkunzi, marketing manager for the shopping centre. “There’s also been quite a few young fans here that have been very excited to meet him.”

Le Clos was representing his sponsor, Arena sports gear. “I am a bit tired from all the travelling I’ve done in the last few days,” Le Clos said. “But it’s great that I got to meet with fans. I myself know what it’s like to be a fan [of a sportsperson] and so I’m proud to do it.”

Bert le Clos, Chad’s father, was also excited to be there.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he told the Fourways Review. “The customers are so happy to see him, particularly the kids, and that’s part of his job – to inspire South African youth.”

The competitive swimmer, originally from Durban, announced on social media this week that he was planning to move to Cape Town permanently, and that he also planned to open his own swimming school, the Chad le Clos Swimming Academy in that city next year.
