Diepsloot youth kept out of mischief

DIEPSLOOT – The Diepsloot Youth Programme aims to keep many children active, focused and out of trouble over the holidays.

Keeping the children of Diepsloot active, focused and out of trouble was the aim of the Diepsloot Youth Programme over the school holidays.

The programme has been running for five years and is the brainchild of the Diepsloot Police Station. It aims to create more sports activities for children in the area in their fight against crime.

The children participated in soccer and netball games at Muzomuhle Primary school’s newly launched Amandla EduFootball safe-hub which consists of an artificial turf football field.

Amandla EduFootball is an international non-profit organisation and creator of the internationally-acclaimed safe-hub model.

Its aim is to create safe spaces that bring together the power of football and learning to empower youth and change lives.

The safe-hub provides a comprehensive, integrated set of youth development services in collaboration with the local community, using football as the key driver of engagement.

More than 1 000 children participated in soccer games over four days of the school holidays and the girls played netball on the school’s netball court.
