Fourways volleyball team reigns supreme

FOURWAYS – The team which represented central Johannesburg in the Top Schools Gauteng Volleyball Union Tournament scores big.

 

Fourways High School’s girls’ first volleyball team represented central Johannesburg in the Top Schools Gauteng Volleyball Union Tournament held at the University of the Witwatersrand on 17 June.

In the finals of the tournament, Fourways played against West Rand School and won their match sets with a score of 25–14; 25–16; and 25–14, making them the overall tournament winners.

The school’s management explained that their U19A girls remain undefeated this year after winning the Goliath League and the annual Fourways High Volleyball Tournament.

On 18 June, the girls went to the interprovincial trials where seven of their girls were selected for the U19A Gauteng team. They will represent Gauteng in the IPT Tournament which will be held in Bloemfontein during the school holidays.

The selected pupils are Michaela Heynes, Neo Manyatja, Clarice Phakathi, Limpopo Molife, Shaylee Krumples, Sarah Shabalala and Siya Makakane.

The also school congratulated Kelly Williams and Sethu Gadu who were selected as the two non-travelling reserves.
