U16 Fourways High School claims victory

FOURWAYS – Fourways High School's U16 rugbyteam wins against King David Linksfield.

Fourways High School’s U16 rugby team came out victorious in their finals against King David Linksfield’s U16 rugby team on 1 June.

According to Fourways High School’s U16 team coach Sean Clay, they got off to a good start with an early try by Tristan Potgieter from a line-out drive in the King David’s 22.

“Daniel Pieterse converted the try which made the score 7–0 and shortly afterwards Fourways High School went into a 12–0 lead after scrum-half Timothy Waspe scored from a scrum five meters from the King David try line,” Clay said.

He added that King David then scored which brought the score to 12–7 but the scoreline changed shortly afterwards from a long-range try by Fourways High School’s full-back, Callum Coombs.

“Early in the second half, Fourways High School’s lock, Chad Horsfall, scored and made the score 22–7 in Fourways’ favour. King David then came back strong to score two late tries making the game balanced. It seemed that King David would sneak a late victory but Fourways High School managed to defend and we became league champions with a narrow 22–17 victory,” he concluded.
