The exciting Freedom Ride cycle event returns to its original route next week, with the City of Johannesburg once again hosting the event which will take cyclists from Braamfontein to Soweto.

The cycling event, now in its fifth edition, will take place on 17 April and will see residents cycle from the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Braamfontein to Vilakazi Street in Soweto, and back.

The ride will be hosted in partnership with Hollard and will see cyclists tackle a 35km route, but with public transport set to be available for riders who only wish to ride half the route.

The freedom ride is hosted in celebration of the life of late statesman, Nelson Mandela, to promote safe cycling in Johannesburg for commuters and recreational riders and offers residents an opportunity to explore the city and its new cycle lanes by bike.

Participation is free and participants are encouraged to register online or by form.
