Show jumping fun at the Nissan Easter Festival

KYALAMI- Family and friends gathered at the much-anticipated Nissan Easter Festival at the Kyalami Equestrian Park from 19 to 28 March.

 

The main class of the festival was the 2016 Nissan SA Outdoor Grand Prix which took place on the last day. Other highlights included the Nissan GT-R High-Performance Challenge, a Lipizzaner display, Horse Carriage Race and the Nissan Six Bar.

The 2016 Nissan Outdoor SA Grand Prix winner was Nicola Sime Riley on her horse A Square Forklifts ElPaso; silver went to Shannon Smith on Mark White Nissan’s Vanya W; and Lauren Smorenburg won bronze on Adawnment’s Lobo.

The 2016 Nissan Children’s Outdoor Grand Prix winner was Matthew Morrison on his horse, Hundred Runs. They were awarded the Ella Paulson Memorial Trophy.

The 2016 Nissan Pony Rider 1.20 National Outdoor Grand Prix winner was Rachel Kerdachi, Amy Michau won silver, and bronze went to Jorja Rohrich who was also the Nissan Victor Ludorum.

Top riders such as Riley, Annemarie Esslinger, Lorette Knowles-Taylor, Dominey Alexander, Barry John Taylor, Ronnie Lawrence, Nicole Horwood, Sam Macintosh, Ray Korber and Lisa Williams competed in a variety of high-energy classes.

The festival saw exciting activities for the whole family such as an Easter-egg hunt, a dog agility show, fancy dress competition and a miniature horse jumping event.
