Brave men bare it all for Botshabelo Babies Home

CROWTHORNE - What do you get when you combine three guys, a tub of hot wax and a public place? Well, pain for a good cause.

Botshabelo Babies Home in Crowthorne recently received the support of three friends, Warren Hollenbach, Johan van Tonder, and Adrian van Zyl, who allowed guests at the home to remove the hairs on their legs using wax strips for a donation.

This was all in preparation of this year’s Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge. The men were not satisfied with only training for months in advance to prepare for the race and were brave enough to approach the home, their friends, family, colleagues, and even strangers to support the cause.

The Midrand locals took their passionate plea for support to the next level the evening before the race. “With smiles, and a few manly tears, they endured a slightly less than professional waxing, and raised over R2 000,” said Mokopano Mutloatse of the home.

The funds will go towards aiding the various functions of the home which include the building of a pre-school and an Early Childhood Development and Training Programme.

Mutloatse was also happy to report that they received great support from David van Lieshout, who broke his leg only a couple months ago and wasn’t able to ride. After working through recovery, his goal was to ride and complete 60km. “He finished the entire race, with our smiles and some ice waiting for him,” she said.
