Awards for Johnson and Mbesuma

JOBURG - For his efforts in guiding Platinum Stars to an eight-match unbeaten streak and topping the Absa Premiership log, Cavin Johnson has been named Coach of the Month for September and October.

The Player of Month award went to Mpumalanga Black Aces striker, Collins Mbesuma, for his exploits in the premiership league which saw his team topping the table before being dethroned.

Dikwena, which means The Crocodiles, as Stars are affectionately known to their fans, currently lead the pack in the premiership log standings with 18 points after eight matches having scored a total of 15 goals in the process – the most by any club at this stage of the campaign.

Johnson’s return to his old club has coincided with Stars putting together a string of impressive displays since the start of the league campaign in August. The Stars coach has been praised for his tactical acumen, putting together a formidable outfit and grinding out the results, even when the odds were stacked against Dikwena.

The rise to form by Mpumalanga Black Aces this season has been largely led by Mbesuma who has rattled the net five times in nine matches to sit joint-top goal scorer.
