Orlando Pirates continued their wonderful display in the CAF Confederations Cup when they beat AC Leopards from the Republic of Congo 2-0 to advance to the semifinals of the competition.

Pirates has enjoyed a rich vein of form in the African competitions and look set to go all the way again. Pirates’ Mpho Makola has continued his scoring form and opened the scoring for Pirates against Leopards to make it a personal tally of three goals in two games.

Oupa Manyisa put the icing on the cake for the Buccaneers when he latched onto the end of a low cross from the right to make it 2-0 in the dying minutes of the game.

Despite the convincing victory, coach Eric Tinkler will have a few concerns about his defence as they looked shaky at times when Leopards piled on the pressure.

Pirates went into the game without a reserve goalkeeper as Brighton Mhlongo was still recovering from a hand injury.

However, Pirates incumbent goalie Felipe Ovono was up to the task whenever he was called into action. Pirates will now play Zamalek from Egypt in the top of the group clash, to determine which team will finish on top of the group.
