FOURWAYS - Fourways High Schools hockey girls enjoyed stellar Inter-Provincial Tournaments (IPTs) during the recent holidays.

In the U14 IPT, South Gauteng U14A team won silver with Fourways’ Kelli Kesting part of the team.

At the U16 regional IPT, the South Gauteng U16D team played the U16C team in the final, with the U16D team taking the honours. Captain of the U16D team and Fourways High pupil, Jemma Kyle walked away with a gold medal, while Angela Kilfoil and Shaylee Krumples of the U16D team took home silver medals.

South Gauteng U16B players Erin Haupt and Tayla Johnson won bronze in the B section after defeating Eastern Province B in the 3rd/4th playoff at the U16 IPT in Stellenbosch.

Kirstyn Hutcheson (U18C) and Gemma Armstrong (U18D) were on opposite teams in the semifinal of the U18 regional IPT, with the U18C team coming out tops and going on to win the final.

Denelle Williams and Jureya Dildar were part of the U18B team that won the gold medal in the U18B Section at the IPT held in Pretoria. This win means that the U18B team will play in the A section next year.

Fourways High players in the South Gauteng U18A team were captain Hayley Kilfoil and Alex Kavanagh. The team won silver medals after losing to Western Province in the final.

Further good news for the hockey programme at the school was the selection of Hayley Kilfoil to the South African Schools U18A team following the IPT. This follows her selection to the national U21 training squad.

Hockey coaches at Fourways High were also involved in the IPTs. Garth Neilson was coach of the South Gauteng U16B team, David Joshua was assistant coach to the U18A and B teams, and David Bell was the U17A boys coach.
