International polo match comes to Waterfall City

WATERFALL CITY - South Africa will take on New Zealand in the annual two-match 2015 BMW International Polo Series at Waterfall Polo Estate on 20 September.

 

The after the first match is held at the Shongweni Club in Durban on 13 September.

“The [tournament] is one of the longest-running sports sponsorships in South Africa, and this speaks to the attributes of the sport and how they encapsulate the very values BMW embodies,” said Tim Abbott, BMW South Africa’s managing director.

“Speed, the thrill of competition and a passion for performance are hallmarks of our brand and we are proud to be involved with this series on a long-term basis.”

The annual series brings together polo devotees, fans, socialites and those new to the sport, where they will see all the action live and be treated to a showcase of BMW’s finest vehicles as part of the day’s proceedings.

“The BMW International Polo Series this year, sees the return of the New Zealand team,” said Mark Davis, president of SA Polo Association.

“Their team includes Craig Wilson and Thomas Hunt. They will be facing a determined challenge from the South Africans whose team will certainly include some young and exciting talent. The South African team will be announced after the Prince of Wales Cup on 30 August.”

Tickets can be bought from the tournament’s official website at R120 per person for general admission by 31 July.
