All in the name of fun

KYALAMI - Football fanatic and mentor Peter Grgin is the head co-ordinator of the Kyalami Knight Riders Football Club and is adamant that the sport is the key to success.

Grgin heads up his team and conducts practices from Kyalami Estates. He said his philosophy in sport, and more especially in football, is to have fun. He said, “I encourage all the children in the team to have fun when playing, which is an essential component to this sport.”

He adopted and designed a training programme based on a research project in the United Kingdom. He said, “My programme is not merely based on skills potential, but rather focuses on development in the sport.”

He said he noticed that there are many children who love the sport, but do not necessary have the skills set to compete on a competitive level. “This is very much a team effort, we all work together and want the children to learn and grow as individuals and as a team.”

The club invites parents and kids from outside the estate to join a fun soccer club for kids from three years to 10 years of age. “Both boys and girls are welcome and no previous exposure to soccer is required,” said Grgin.

He added if anyone would like to join the club, they should contact him via his cell phone for more information.
