Cyclists to raise awareness

JOBURG - Mountain bikers around Midrand are invited to take part in a cycling event to help raise awareness of crimes and challenges cyclists face.

Anton Bosman from Summit Cycles said interested cyclists will meet at Summit Cycles on 1 February at 7am on the corner of Whisken and Walton roads in Midrand. “We will start at Summit Cycles and end back at the same place. The whole event should take less than two hours.”

Bosman explained that cyclists will make stops at places where incidents have taken place, in the hope to raise awareness in the community.

“We hope this initiative will go a long way in raising awareness against challenges we have faced recently and in the past as cyclists,” said Bosman.

Recently, one of the cyclists, Filip Rafalski, was attacked by two men who stole his bike. He escaped with his life when a resident screamed and scared off the attackers.
