Must-see derby is here

KYALAMI- The 49th Galencia Property South African Derby will be taking place on 5 October at Kyalami Equestrian Park.

This year’s derby is set to be the best and busiest since its inception 49 years ago. Rich in history, and the highlight on the equestrian calendar, this event culminates on the Galencia Property.

The derby is the toughest challenge in the horse riding arena, and thus the most sought-after title. The 18-obstacle, 1 200m course is only ever won by the horse and rider combination that is the fittest, most in form and most calm on the day.

Attended by over 5 000 people, this event will see the Who’s Who of the fashion and riding worlds gather for a day of welcoming hospitality, family fun and equine excellence.

CEO of Galencia Property Developments, Mr Cheng Cheng commented, “Equestrian sport has evolved into being more than just a noble event, but rather a symbol of aristocratic demeanour that is represented by ideals of fair competition.”

The derby has become the epitome of fashionable sport and an emblem of a high-end brand.

“We, as the official sponsor of the Galencia Property South African Derby, share the same values that are symbolised by this gallant sport, and hope to encourage a wider range of people to embrace it and subsequently uphold noble sportsmanship,” he added.

Andrew Dawson, chairman of Kyalami Equestrian Park added, “In a continued effort to improve this event year on year, we have created several hospitality and ticketing options, including member hospitality, corporate hospitality, pavilion hospitality, general seating as well as a three tiered VIP marquee.”

Tickets are available at Computicket and this year’s theme is Blue and White, and according to both Cheng and Dawson it will be the event of the year.
