Boxers given more opportunities

CRAIGAVON - Scribante mining, infrastructure and construction company in Kyalami has offered support to the star boxers of Smith's Boxing Gym in Cedar Square.

Sean Smith, co-owner of the boxing gym explained that Franco Scribante, the founder of the Scribante company, was a client of his and trains at the boxing gym for fitness.

Smith said he often spoke to Scribante about the difficulties some of the boxers had with raising the money to fight in international fights. Smith explained that Scribante was so touched by boxers, Thabiso Mchunu and Malcolm Klassen’s struggle to succeed in the world of boxing despite their modest finances, that he stepped in to sponsor the fighters.

Smith said cruiserweight, Mchunu had been sponsored transport and accommodation by Scribante for his visit to the USA to fight Garrett Wilson at Foxwood Resort and Casino in Connecticut on 20 September. Featherweight boxer, Klassen will also be fighting soon at the Palace Storm tournament at Emperors Palace on 29 September, and has been sponsored for meals and transport by Scribante while in training for the big fight.
