Take a break from politics this weekend

FORGET the Marikana Commission, crime stats and Cosatu - Fridays and the weekend belong to sport fans, with just about all Johannesburg teams in action in the next two days.

In the Absa Premiership on Saturday, Moroka Swallows take on Maritzburg United at Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto. Live on SS4 from 2pm.

Also on Saturday at 5.30pm, Bidvest Wits will be looking to continue to impress under new coach Gavin Hunt away to Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria. Also live on SS4.

Clash of the weekend is the battle for Gauteng rugby supremacy, the Absa Currie Cup round seven tie between the MTN Golden Lions and Vodacom Blue Bulls at Ellis Park Stadium. Catch the action on SS1 from 5pm on Saturday.

Later in the evening, Gauteng battles the North West at 8pm when defending league champions Kaizer Chiefs lock horns with Platinum Stars at FNB Stadium, with coverage on SS4.

There is also a mouth-watering derby between Manchester United and Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. This Barclays Premier League match is on Sunday from 4.30pm, live on SS3.

Sunday is a big day for Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers take on Egyptian giants Al Ahly at Orlando Stadium in the Orange CAF Champions League. Coverage is from 2.30pm on SABC1 and SS4.

The Soweto club needs nothing less than a victory to advance to the semi-finals of the continental showpiece.
