Run for Lonehill

LONEHILL - Hundreds of Lonehill residents took to the suburb's streets to raise funds for the upkeep of its famed park.

The annual 5km Fun Run, organised by the Lonehill Residents Association, had residents, dogs, as well as parents with strollers taking on the course around Lonehill’s streets.

This event was started by St Peter’s Preparatory School for Boys and sponsored by Otter Estates of Lonehill. It originally aimed to raise funds for the Save the Lonehill Dam project 10 years ago.

The first year attracted just over 200 entries, but the event has continued to grow each year.

The Lonehill branch of Run/Walk for Life assisted with marshalling the run, while Lonehill Village Church took responsibility for the half-way water point.

Entry fees went toward the upkeep of the Lonehill park and dam, while the day also featured a food drive.

Non-perishables were collected, which will be distributed by Lonehill Village Church through their feeding schemes.
