‘Reliable traffic lights will get you our votes’

One can only laugh when articles such as these appear in Fourways Review.

As I sit listening to the traffic report on the countless robots out in and around Johannesburg whilst reading this article, I wonder to myself, how can any mayor … any leader claim efficiency?

How can any City officials claim to have run the office with huge success when they can’t even keep a traffic light working for more than a month?

I hope you publish this because I can guarantee you that the 12 million Gauteng residents who suffer on a daily basis to get to work, get home or fetch their children from school in this crippling traffic – which is magnified further by one out, unmanned robot on their route home – will agree with me …

Oh, wait! I forgot to mention those who run things and don’t suffer like the rest of us! They just take our hard-earned taxes to pay the traffic cops to stop all the traffic so they can speed through the robots in the black fancy cars the public has essentially paid for … how about getting the traffic cops to man the broken robots instead?

Civil servants who have exalted themselves and dare to call it an ‘efficient’ and successful term in office [should] sit in gridlock like the rest of us who pay their salaries!

The man or woman who can promise us reliable robots/traffic lights that never fail is the one who will get our vote!

Classic case of ‘run before you can walk’!

First world city? What a joke! We can’t even keep a traffic light going!
