Open the market to freedom of choice

Yes, it is true, and you are absolutely correct in saying that because the petrol price goes down, the taxi fares should reduce accordingly. Not that I disagree with you, but I would like to propose an additional view… one of ‘freedom’. Freedom of choice, that is.

If the taxi owner or driver wishes to increase or reduce the fare, as the case may be, then allow him to do so. He naturally will only charge what the customers are willing to pay. If he doesn’t, he will realise this very quickly.

My point is to please permit him to have the freedom of choice, the same way that a potential passenger should have the freedom of choice to use whatever method of transport is best, based on price, service and whatever other criteria may be applicable.

Unfortunately, choices are limited at the moment between buses, Rea Vaya and taxis, but that could change if the market was opened.
