Learning and teaching kicks off smoothly on the first day of the 2023 academic year at Kim Field Academy

First-time learners at Kim Field Academy enjoy their first day at school as the 2023 academic year kicks off.

Teaching and learning at Kim Field Academy in Fourways kicked off without any glitches and delays on the first day of the 2023 academic year.

Founder and principal of the school Kim Field said, “We started our 2023 academic year in high spirits and our learners were excited to be in school. One thing I’ve realised is that first-time [learners] now understand that school is not a bad place to be. None of our Grade Rs or Grade 1 learners gave us problems or cried for their parents this year. We conducted an orientation a week before to allow a smooth start of teaching and learning on the first day.”

Field said a strong working relationship between parents, teachers and learners could help improve the learners’ performance at school.

“One of the most common challenges we have at the school is parents who don’t put aside some time to check where their children lack. I’m of the view that this is because of work commitments and other things that parents have to do. We need parents to be more involved in their children’s work to achieve good learning outcomes.”
