The American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) is thrilled to announce its collaborative effort with the Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre to bring vibrancy and warmth to the clinic’s preventative department.

He said this thoughtful initiative also seeks to create a nurturing atmosphere that promotes positivity, relaxation, and hope, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for those utilizing the department’s vital services.

“The project originated as a collaborative endeavor between the creative and compassionate students of the AISJ and the dedicated healthcare professionals at the Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre.

“The primary objective was to transform the aesthetic appeal of the preventative department, a vital hub that provides indispensable education, resources, and services to empower pregnant mothers and their babies in preventing illness and promoting overall health and well-being.”

Shange said by refurbishing this critical space, the project aimed to create a welcoming and uplifting environment that would not only enhance the physical surroundings but also contribute to a sense of comfort, dignity, and hope for the vulnerable populations served by the clinic.

“Through this joint initiative, AISJ students and Witkoppen Clinic staff united to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who rely on this essential department for support and care.”

The vibrant murals, featuring colourful and engaging designs, were chosen to reflect themes of hope, wellness, and community. “We are incredibly grateful to AISJ for this generous donation,” said Thembisile Makhombothi, head of the preventative department at Witkoppen Clinic.

“The new murals have transformed our department, making it a more vibrant and welcoming space. This project is a wonderful example of how partnerships and community involvement can make a significant difference.”

The murals were meticulously designed and installed to brighten up the space and create a more positive environment for patients and staff alike. This aesthetic enhancement symbolizes the community’s commitment to promoting health and wellness.

“This project also provided AISJ students with a valuable opportunity to engage with the community and learn about the importance of public health and the role of art in healing and well-being. Through their involvement over the past several years, students gained valuable insights into the impact of their actions and the power of service.

“The installation of the murals is part of ongoing efforts to improve the clinic’s facilities and create an environment that is welcoming and supports health and well-being. Both AISJ and Witkoppen Clinic are excited to continue their partnership in future initiatives that further their mission of being the best primary healthcare facility and improving community health.”
