Locals out and about for their 67 minutes of Madiba Day

Witkoppen Clinic hosts both a blood donation drive and a luncheon for the elderly.

It is an important day for many to remember, a man who always preached unity and spreading kindness in a country he loved as “a rainbow nation,” the late Nelson Mandela.

On this day, many all over the country have something to depict how the late former president Nelson Mandela would have celebrated his birthday.

Fourways residents also took an effort to offer their contributions towards the 67 minutes that was started as a celebration of International Mandela Day.

One of them is the Witkoppen Clinic through their blood donation drive.

“Everyone was extremely willing to donate blood today because of the significance of today. We appreciate that because blood is something that is extremely important and it will save many lives,” said the Sbonga Shange.

That was not all, he also had his hands full of surprises with his colleagues by gathering the elderly in Kya Sands.

“Our plan when we came to Vukuzenzele community centre was to give 50 elderly people that we were going to cook for so Spar gave us a donation of toiletries, 67 Minutes gave us scarfs.”

The elderly relished on tasty meals and received gifts from the Witkoppen Clinic.
