Kim Field Academy says Poverty Sucks

Kim Field Academy takes on the Poverty Sucks fundraising campaign to help reduce the effects of poverty in rural communities throughout South Africa.

Kim Field Private Primary Education hosted a Poverty Sucks fundraising campaign.

Poverty Sucks is a Rolemodels Foundation project that teams up with schools to focus on national fundraising campaigns, to reduce the effects of poverty in communities. It feeds, educates, and supports preschool children in informal settlements throughout South Africa.

Founder of the Rolemodel Foundation, Jaci Tibbit said, “Poverty is not necessarily an issue to solve, it is an opportunity to serve. As Mother Theresa once said, ‘It is not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing’, and we have been doing it for so many years. We help feed and take care of preschool children in informal settlements throughout the country.

“Then I met Lara Field who was excited to get involved. She committed to buying 100 lollipops to be sold for R10 each and the proceeds will help the needy.”

The campaign allows Kim Field Primary’s learners and parents to buy Poverty Sucks lollipops for R10 and nominate a charity of their choice which will receive food parcels for the needy at the end of December.

“We were excited to get involved and the kids involved, we also reached out to parents asking for their support with the campaign. We believe if everyone contributes a little bit, that makes a big difference, so we had to play our part and make a difference,” said Lara Field, founder of Kim Field Private Primary Education.

Tibbit believed that the campaign would make learners aware of poverty and the effects it had on the country. “It is important to teach them while they are still young, and we believe this campaign will give them an idea of how the world is out there,” said Tibbit.

Interested parties can get involved with the campaign on the Facebook page, Poverty Sucks – Lollipops for Charity.
