Black Coffee Foundation partner with Virgin Active to raise funds for Mthatha Food Bank

The international award-winning DJ said the foundation hoped it will be able to make an impact on the lives of the people living in Umthatha.

Renowned South African DJ, Nathi Maphumulo also known as, DJ Black Coffee in partnership with Virgin Active recently hosted a fitness event at Fourways Mall to raise much-needed funds for the Mthatha Food Bank.

Scores of fitness bunnies from across the province arrived early to participate in a 50-minute cycle or boxing session led by Virgin Active instructors.

The international, award-winning DJ said the foundation hoped to impact the lives of the people in Umthatha where he spent part of his life growing up. “The initiative aims to raise funds for the Black Coffee Foundation and will go to supporting the Mthatha Food Bank. I grew up in Mthatha, so I try to support them as much as possible. With the establishment of the Mthatha Food Bank, myself, and the foundation hope to make an impact on the lives of the people in that community”

Cluster general manager at Virgin Active, Nontarha Dandala said the event speaks to their purpose of empowering people to live active lives.

“We are passionate about giving back to local communities through initiatives that get people active. We have an incredible community of members and staff at Virgin Active who were all excited to get involved and make this day a success,” Dandala said.
