Smash and grab incidents on the rise once again in Paulshof

Local councillor has urged motorists and community members to report these incidents to the police instead of writing about them on social media.

Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy has urged motorists to be extra careful when driving on Witkoppen Road towards Umhlanga Road following incidents of smash-and-grabs.

Reddy said following a decline of reported cases in the past few months, the intersection has once again become a hotspot with several incidents being reported to him and the police recently.

He urged motorists and community members to report these incidents to the police instead of writing about them on social media.

‘I’ve received a number of complaints from members of the community about a group of armed criminals breaking people’s car windows and robbing them of their belongings during peak hours at this intersection. I have also raised this matter with the police at the recent CPF meeting held in Morningside.”

Reddy said he had requested one of the security companies operating in the area to help patrol the area during peak hours.

“These criminals rob people and run to the N1 highway where their getaway vehicles wait for them. We have asked Securreza Security Solutions to help patrol the area to prevent this traumatising crime. I implore community members to report these cases to the police.”
