Potjie competition fundraiser set to support Wings of Inspiration Dog Rescue Centre

Join the Wings of Inspiration Dog rescue centre, for a flavorful and fun-filled potjie competition, where your culinary skills can directly contribute to the care of rescue dogs.

Prepare for a day of culinary creativity and community spirit as the Wings of Inspiration Dog Rescue Centre hosts its inaugural potjie competition on November 2nd in Northriding.

Gerda Bekker, the general manager for the organisation, explained that the event aims to engage residents while raising vital funds to support the centre’s efforts in animal welfare.

“We always look for fun, different approaches to bring people to our centre. We’ve had open days, market days, and even a barking-for-bikes day to invite the community in. This potjie competition is another way to showcase what we do and bring people together around a common cause.”

For the competition teams of up to four are encouraged to enter, bringing their best potjie recipes to compete for exciting prizes. The event also seeks to foster camaraderie and fun among participants.

“You have to bring the ‘gees’ and make it a fun event. We’re here to support the dogs, and we believe everyone can contribute, whether you’re a cooking expert or just passionate about food,” Bekker added.

The funds raised from this event will help the rescue centre cover essential expenses such as grounds maintenance, medical supplies, and food for the dogs, as well as paving the way toward completing a new playpen for the rescues. “Every bit helps. Our dream is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for our dogs, and these events bring us closer to that goal,” Bekker emphasised.

As Wings of Inspiration opens its doors for this event, Bekker invites the community to engage further with the rescue centre. “We always need word of mouth to assist with donations and adoptions of our dogs.”
With its mission of animal welfare in mind, this potjie competition promises to be a deliciously impactful day for all involved.

Participants interested in entering the competition can do so for R400 per team, or R100 per individual, by contacting Darryl at 074 256 3620, or via email at darryl@wingsinspiration.co.za. The deadline for registration is October 25.
