Broadacres Academy learners dress up for a good book

The learners from Broadacres Academy arrived at the school dressed as their favourite book characters to breathe life into the stories.

When the lights go out and the room grows quiet, something magical happens. As parents read bedtime stories, their children’s imagination come alive. The words on the page turn into vibrant worlds, filled with brave heroes, fantastical creatures, and exciting adventures.

To prove this, the Broadacres Academy Junior Prep campus was transformed into a vibrant world of literary wonder as learners and teachers celebrated the annual Book Character Dress-Up Day.

The event saw young book lovers arrive dressed as their favourite characters from the books they read at school or before going to bed at home, bringing their beloved stories to life, and adding to the power of imagination.

Creative costumes inspired by classics such as Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, The Cat in the Hat, and The Chronicles of Narnia were on display as learners proudly paraded their outfits.

The hallways were filled with excitement and enthusiasm as they eagerly shared stories about their characters with their peers.

According to teacher Sonia Oshry, “Book Character Dress-Up Day is a highlight on our school calendar, offering learners a wonderful opportunity to express their passion for reading, foster creativity, and connect with their favourite stories on a deeper level.”

She said that this event allows students to show their love for reading and creativity, while also developing their communication skills as they share their characters’ story with others.
