Douglasdale CPF team elected to tackle crime and safety concerns

The new committee will work with the SAPS and other stakeholders to address crime and safety concerns in the sector and engaging with the community.

The Douglasdale Community Police Forum (CPF) Sector 3 committee elections took place on August 3, at the Indaba Hotel.

The meeting was opened by Douglasdale executive chairperson Lizzy Mabena, who welcomed attendees and introduced various dignitaries, including SAPS Vispol commander Colonel Moeti Senna and sector manager Captain Kit Lepheana.

The elections were facilitated by representatives from the Department of Community Safety, who took the stand and explained the importance of having the CPF within the community, and how the election procedure works.

Lepheana provided an overview of crime within the sector and also highlighted the need for effective community policing.

The candidates were given eight nomination forms, and after voting and counting, the following individuals were elected to the Sector 3 committee:

• Chairperson: Madeleine Bruckmann
• Deputy chairperson: David Weyers
• Secretary: Rudy Lingenfelder
• Deputy secretary: Elaine Cordier
• Public relations officer: Basil Dix
• Patrol co-ordinator: Richard Daley

Basil Dix, the CPF’s new public relations officer said, “the Douglasdale CPF congratulates the new Sector 3 committee and wishes them success in representing the residents of the sector during their 5-year term. The CPF also thanks the Indaba Hotel for hosting the meeting and the members of the public who attended.

“The new committee is expected to play a crucial role in addressing crime and safety concerns within the sector, working closely with the SAPS and other stakeholders to ensure a safer community for all residents. The committee’s responsibilities will include engaging with the community, identifying safety concerns, and developing strategies to address these concerns. The Douglasdale CPF is committed to building a safer community, and the election of the new Sector 3 committee is a significant step towards achieving this goal. The CPF looks forward to working with the new committee to make a positive impact in the community.”
