Douglasdale CPF Sector 1 committee elections

Douglasdale CPF Sector 1 held its committee elections, electing new leaders to serve and represent the community for the next five years.

The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 1 committee elections took place on July 30, at the North Rand Methodist Church. The evening began with a welcome from Thabo Thipe of the Department of Community Safety. He was joined by Douglasdale station commander Brigadier Veeshani Arikum, Sector manager Captain Len Celliers, and Exco chairperson Lizzy Mabena.

Thipe explained the role of the CPF and the election process. Celliers then provided an overview of the crime statistics for Sector 1 for July, followed by a question and answer session with the public.

A total of 20 nomination forms were submitted. The voting process, overseen by Celliers and Mabena, was conducted with transparency. Arikum observed the vote counting.

Michael Tuck was elected as chairperson, the deputy chairperson is Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg. Josephine Mohideen is the new secretary, and the new deputy secretary is Samantha Pittendrigh. Charlene Vergote was appointed public relations officer, and the new patrol co-ordinator is Emile Barnard.

The Douglasdale CPF congratulates the new Sector 1 committee members and wishes them success in representing the residents over their five-year term. Thanks are extended to the North Rand Methodist Church for hosting the event and to the community members who participated.
