Sandton Meals on Wheels provides meals for elderly and homeless

The charity organisation distributes nutritious cooked meals to the elderly and the homeless beneficiaries in Sunninghill and other areas.

In a world where many face hard-hitting reality, Sandton Meals on Wheels community services chooses to shine like a ray of sunshine by spreading love and kindness to those in need.

With selfless dedication, the organisation provides nourishing meals and warm smiles to restore hope and comfort to those struggling to make ends meet.

Like a beacon in the darkness, they illuminate the path to a brighter tomorrow, one meal at a time, and with the support of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Sunninghill, they can reach the masses.

Through their kind efforts, they can provide healthy, freshly prepared meals to elderly residents in Riverside View, Diepsloot, and Windsor East, as well as to homeless individuals in Sunninghill.

So far, the feeding program has supplied a total of 828 recipients with at least one meal per week.

“This outreach initiative is truly making a significant impact in supporting the less fortunate members of our community,” said Anisha Naidoo, the secretary and a volunteer at the organisation.

“We depend solely on the public to contribute financially, or in kind, to continue running the operation successfully.

We have three volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts, and only three paid staff to see to the functioning of the organisation.”

The organisation, so dedicated to supporting the underserved and hungry community, appeals for help to take their mission even further.

“We are reaching out to the community for help in various forms. This can include financial contributions and volunteer time. Your support is crucial in helping us make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.

“We thank Sandton SDA Church leadership and membership for financially assisting Meals on Wheels to enhance and grow. We are also grateful for your valuable support and collaboration with our projects throughout the years.”
