This partnership will see people with special needs basking in the glory of meaningful opportunities tailored specially for them so that they are able to develop skills, build confidence, and participate more fully in their communities.

The school’s Michelle Kirk, said another one of their proud partnerships is the Els for Autism Foundation, a non-profit organisation, serving individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families around the world.

Kirk said the organisation has been offering a golf curriculum for 12 weeks to eight Unity students introducing the sport of golf to the autism community at the special needs school.

“Unity’s pupils enjoyed the course which was within their capability. They appreciated going to Randpark Golf Course every Friday, and were always met with such kind coaches and staff from the Els for Autism Foundation.”

Upon completion of the course, the pupils were rewarded with certificates of completion and a trophy. This means they can join any golf club as they have basic skills for golf and they can further develop on these skills.

Kirk added that the partnership is still to be continued with a new group of pupils.

“We owe the biggest gratitude to the Els Foundation for their belief and support in our school and its pupils. We see this as part of fulfilling one of our goals of integration into society.”
