Birds of the same feathers flock together in Hillary’s backyard

Support youth empowerment and creativity with Riverside View Arts Project as they sell a beautiful bird sculpture.

Hillary Zangaro, who has been a sculptor for over two decades, has led the effort to create a magnificent singular bird sculpture to raise funds for the Riverside View Arts Project which he founded alongside Thabo Mthombeni.

Zangaro said the community has generously donated materials and offered assistance to support the art programme, which aims to take kids off the streets.

He said the creation of this sculpture symbolises the collaborative spirit and dedication of the Riverside View arts team and was inspired by the natural surroundings that he loves so much.

Mthombeni emphasised the vital role of art and culture in empowering the community’s youth.

“Through our art, we aim to provide a clear message and attract more young people to our cause.”

With a focus on creating outdoor art pieces for the community, the sale of the singular bird sculpture holds great potential to generate essential funds and inspire a deeper appreciation for art, said one of the project’s members, Martin Umami.

“I believe that potential buyers will value this sculpture as a symbol of freedom.”

Zangaro shared the challenges he faced during the making of his artwork. He said he had to manoeuvre around working in a noisy environment and the need for better workshop facilities.

However, his commitment to raising funds through the sculpture’s sale was the one that kept him motivated.
