Cricket team appeals for help to compete in Sri Lanka

The Fourways Action Sport Indoor Cricket is asking for help to raise funds to compete in a tournament in Sri Lanka.

The Fourways Action Sport Indoor Cricket team last year took part in the U-Pro World Club Series tournament in which they managed to qualify to go and compete in Sri Lanka due to their impressive talent and skill.

The team will be heading to Sri Lanka for this year’s U-Pro World Club Series to play against 10 other countries and represent their arena in this prestigious tournament. This is the first time since the creation of this tournament that so many countries and arenas from all over the world have entered.

Luca Naude said they are faced with a challenge as their most talented players can not afford to go to play for the series tournament in Sri Lanka.

She appeals to the community to assist in raising funds to realise their dream to come back crowned winners of the competition.

“The journey to glory comes at a cost – approximately R40 000 per player. This covers travel, game fees, kit, and essential spending money to ensure our athletes can shine without financial worry. We need to raise at least R480 000 to ensure all 12 players can go on this journey of a lifetime.”

The players will be jetting off on April 19 to acclimatise to the change of environment as the tournament will be running from the April 22 until the April 29. They will be flying back later in the evening on the last day.
