Ward 93 councillor cleans up the streets of his ward

Reddy met with the JRA to discuss issues in the ward.

On a mission to bring change in his community, Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy dug through his ward to solve issues his community has been grappling with including potholes and dirty sidewalks. Reddy along with the Region A Crum team of AFS and Pikitup personnel started with dispatching the overgrowth on the ramp of Winnie Mandela Drive to Wikoppen Road. “This signals the first of many steps in cleaning up the Pineslopes Precinct. Both teams are committed to the task and are hugely motivated,” said Reddy.

Reddy met with JRA’s Vusi Radebe for a ward tour where he showed him issues within the ward that the JRA could solve to make the ward and the community of Ward 93 a better place. During this tour, Reddy outlined all the major issues which require a longer-term solution than quick fixes. “The purpose of the tour was to draw attention to the problematic areas like roads including Forest or Sunset Boulevard, Dennis Road where years of filling in potholes have resulted in a very degraded road and the only course of action would be to resurface.”

Reddy explained his biggest concerns to the JRA, and it was concluded that the issues would be fixed. “We are going to work together to tackle the issues in the community,” said Reddy. He told the JRA that most of the attention should be on the roads that are degrading. The Fourways Review contacted the JRA, but they had not responded by the time of going to print.
