It is ‘messy’ but fun for Dainfern College learners

Dainfern College learners enjoy getting messy at the school's 'Let's Get Messy' day.

‘Let’s Get Messy’ was a creative and fun event hosted by Dainfern College to promote family bonding.

The learners alongside their parents got up to fun and engaging activities, from finger painting and pizza-making to immersive play sessions with toys, foam, and even drawing in flour.

It was such an eventful day filled with so much joy and excitement as families rotated through different stations, each offering a unique sensory experience.

The family picnic was a perfect end to the fun-filled experience for many of the learners.

Parents not only got to engage with their children but also facilitated new friendships and stronger connections within the school community.

The head of Grade 0s Laurian Duffield said she had a great time and explained the importance of the day, “Sensory play is incredibly beneficial for children’s development. It supports language development, hones motor skills, and fosters creativity. More importantly, it’s inclusive and offers a screen-free environment that encourages social interaction and independence.”

The event emphasised Dainfern College’s dedication to providing a holistic educational experience, highlighting the significance of play in learning and the development of essential life skills, according to Chevaun Barker, the media and communications officer of the school.

She added, “Parents and students alike were left with smiles, memories, and perhaps a bit of paint in their hair, reflecting on a day that was as educational as it was entertaining.

“This Let’s Get Messy day stands as a testament to the school’s innovative approach to education, proving that learning can indeed be fun, imaginative, and deeply rewarding.”
