Curro Douglasdale learners excited to take on their leadership roles

Danielle Scaaf and Tanaka Mukaronda from Curro Douglasdale share their plans for the school as leaders.

Danielle Scaaf and Tanaka Mukaronda are excited to serve as part of the learners’ representative council at Curro Douglasdale. These Grade 7 learners were appointed during the inaugural ceremony that the school hosted on February 9.

Scaaf said she feels proud to have made it this far. She has hopes of leaving a legacy of helping fellow learners and feels that change is near with her leadership.

“I want to teach the younger kids how to properly respect our school and make an impact by teaching them the values of Curro Douglasdale and making the learning environment better. Leadership means instilling values in others to me. I get an opportunity to teach younger or even new kids the Curro values to ensure that that too can leave a legacy one day. I’ve always wanted to be a leader especially amongst the younger learners at our school. I am so excited to be working with our future leaders.”

It was a dream come true for Mukaronda as well. She said the desire to be a leader became worse last year, in fact.

“At the time I was a visitor but now being in Curro Douglasdale I can now actively influence our school more positively. I feel amazing because this opportunity comes once in a while. Leadership means a chance to influence people for the betterment of all.”

She is prepared to do exactly that.

“During my time of being a leader I hope to change the school for the better through cultural activities. I personally love drama and I am hoping to implement a drama club soon for drama enthusiasts like me.”

Outside of school Mukaronda says she prefers to read and write her own stories because she loves having her friends read them for fun.

“I see myself excelling in all fields of culture, sports and academics. In the next five years.”

Scaaf said during her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends because those are the people in her life that mean the most. She also has big hopes and dreams – she says she sees herself in a great school, achieving great marks, and hopefully being in another leadership position.
