Pupils jump from primary to start their high school education

Fourways High School has welcomed the Class of 2028 through a fun-filled orientation day.

The school siren rang calling the Class of 2028 to begin their new journey at Fourways High School. As young, a little shy, and nervous as most seemed, they heeded the call and received a warm welcome from educators as the school year began on January 15.

It was a day to remember as the new fresh faces at the school moved successfully from primary to high school. Learners made new friends through team-building activities, engaged in traditions like learning the school’s prayer and anthem.

Head boy Cuan Basson said he understood how they were feeling because he remembered being in their shoes.

He said he is determined to make a difference in their lives, “I am more excited than they are because it is fun being here. There is a lot that waits for them and I know they will enjoy their time being here. ”

On the other hand, the head girl, Jordan Mazibuko said there is a lot to expect as the year progresses.

“Stepping into an unfamiliar environment can be daunting. It is like exploring an uncharted jungle, but remember you have the campus for your curiosity and the map of your determination to guide you. If you have not already guessed, I am a geography teacher.

“We will be your guides this year, helping you to navigate through the jungle. You will have dedicated teachers who are not only experts in their fields but are also passionate encouragers. You will have supportive peers who will become companions on this adventure. You have the school, which is not just a building but a community, a safe space where you can learn, grow, and discover who you truly are. This is a time for exploration, dive into the depths of mathematics, scale the heights of history, and unravel the mystery of science.”

Aobakwe Nyakala and Sisanda Ndamase carefully study the lyrics of the school’s song.

Amandla Suga, a new pupil said, “I am excited to be in the Class of 2028. I love how the school welcomed us, and I feel at home even though it has been a few hours.”
