Tibbit’s food tower feed the need

Jaci Tibbit is filled with joy after giving back to the community through an initiative.

They say Rome was not built in one day, and so it is for Jaci Tibbit – it took just a tin of non-perishable foods for her to build a food tower that she named ‘ The Tower of Hope’ for the needy.

This was for the annual Power Towers Food Drive initiative which she started during the pandemic. It has since been going from success to success and this year was no exception.

Jaci Tibbit had kids jumping up and down with excitement when she came with her hands full of goodies to give.

The reigning Mrs African United Continent 2022 built the food tower on November 11 in Fourways. After this thoughtful gesture, she went to Diepsloot on December 4 to make a donation to a disadvantaged school.

She explained how the school was chosen. “The Rolemodels Foundation has various Imfundo Educare projects in South Africa, that support disadvantaged early childhood development centres. The titleholders of Rolemodels Foundation from time to time can also nominate disadvantaged schools and other charitable beneficiaries to receive proceeds from the Power Towers Food Drive.

Jaci Tibbit fulfills her heart’s desires through initiative.

“Rolemodels Foundation runs several community outreach projects like the Starfish Place of Safety and Sizani Skills Development Project which also benefits from the Power Tower Food Drive. We have been involved with the House Of Dorah’s Lil Angels and Playground in Diepsloot since 2015 and have helped them continuously with stationery, food, educational support, and lots of treats throughout the year.”

She added: “We felt extremely grateful and overwhelmed with joy to have a positive impact on the plight of impoverished people and especially children’s lives. We are truly grateful to everyone who donated food items and made it possible for us to be a blessing to others in need.

Tibbit said she remained relevant in this drive because of their fight for poverty and instilling positive change in the community.

“The highlight of the day was to be able to donate food and give the children lollipops and to see the children’s big, beaming smiles on their faces, as well as all the teachers’ faces shining with immense gratitude. Mrs Pretoria – Tshwane, Chantel Cloete, and I, had so much fun with the children, playing, dancing and singing, and receiving tons of hugs and love. We left with our souls and hearts overflowing with so much love and joy.”

She said she holds this initiative very near and dear to her heart. “We can only make a difference in South Africa if we stand together, as the Springboks say we are Stronger Together!! So let’s continue in 2024 to make a difference together for our communities in need. As Nelson Mandela once said, ‘Together as a nation, we have the obligation to put sunshine into the hearts of our little ones. They are our precious possessions. They deserve what happiness life can offer.

“Rolemodels Foundation would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Fourways Review for always supporting our initiatives and again thank the fabulous Fourways community for their kind and giving hearts. “Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much.” Teamwork makes the dream work. #StrongerTogether.”
