18-year-old creates a past exam papers website

Fourways High School matriculant Veer Gosai started an educational website consisting of past exam papers from grades 1-12.

Fourways High School matriculant Veer Gosai started an educational website consisting of past exam papers from grades 1-12. This follows his search on the internet two years ago when he was looking for past exam papers to prepare for his exam. He struggled with the proper websites which he found ridiculous.

His love for IT gave him the idea to start his own website that learners would easily find and use for free. SApapers has since then had 750,000 visits from students this year. “I did not really have assistance. I run the company by myself,” he said. The 18-year-old said his greatest setback was developing the website. “I had absolutely no clue how to implement and build many parts of the website. This was also an advantage because I got to learn so much from it.”

He explained how he sources his papers from various government websites. “There are many different websites eg, National, Gauteng, Eastern Cape or IEB document library and more. Each government website only has its own past papers, and this is very confusing to navigate. What I have been able to do is organise them into one central platform,” said Gosai.

The youngster elaborated on how the website generates some revenue which he is saving to pay his university fees next year. “I am hoping to study computer science at either UCT or Wits,” he said. He hopes to achieve much greater things that will help people in the future.
