The Nutcracker in Montecasino
Joburg Ballet gives Johannesburg a magnificent festive season present this summer by bringing The Nutcracker to the Teatro at Montecasino for 11 performances from December 1 to 10. The Nutcracker is set to transport audiences to a fairy tale world as Clara and her Nutcracker Prince journey through sweets, snowflakes and waltzing flowers to reach the enchanted realm of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Guest producer Angela Malan said, “The captivating music by Tchaikovsky and beautiful sets, costumes and lighting make The Nutcracker an unforgettable treat for children and adults alike. I want this production to showcase all the wonder and magic of The Nutcracker and to capture the timelessness of the great classical ballet tradition.”

Walk with Melville Koppies
On every Sunday, embark on a 5km scenic hiking trail at your own pace with maps provided or a self-guided heritage trail with information about the nature and history. This gives you a chance to learn about the enchanting history of the Melville Koppies. It is the last conserved remnant of Johannesburg’s ridges as they were before the discovery of gold in 1886. Its geology goes back three billion years. Stone tools show that Early Stone Age man camped here as long as 500 000 years ago. There is a Late Stone Age living floor. Within the last 1 000 years, Iron Age immigrants arrived, and remains of their kraal walls can be found on the northern slopes. In 1963 an iron-smelting furnace was excavated and can be seen today. Enjoy all this and more when you visit the koppies.

Linden Cycles

Join the Linden Cycles afternoon Spruit Ride every Friday, This is an excellent opportunity for new riders and solo riders who don’t have people to ride with to join a group ride and explore Johannesburg’s beautiful natural scenery. Participants will meet at Linden Cycles at or before 14:00, where they will be briefed on the route, safety guidelines, and cycling etiquette. The ride will start promptly at 14:30 and will take approximately one and a half hours. The Spruit route is mostly flat, with a few moderate inclines and declines, making it suitable for riders of all skill levels.

The Great MuttsRule Dog Walk
